Gloucestershire County Council Privacy Policy
What we need and why we need it
Gloucestershire County Council will be what is known as the Data Controller of the data you provide to us. By registering an account and using the Me Learning system you are giving your consent for us to use the data provided. This is to enable our Application Support and Training Teams to offer you the appropriate training courses, and to track your learning progress for your benefit and to inform your managers’ decisions. The minimum information you will need to provide to create a learning account will be your name, email address, telephone number, employer and job title.
What we do with it
Me Learning Ltd are the developers of the Me Learning system, but it is managed by Gloucestershire County Council. The information is stored on Gloucestershire County Council servers which are based in Corsham, Wiltshire. The servers are in a secure location with restricted access.
How long we keep it
A Me Learning account will remain open so you can go back to it at any point in the future and still login (this is much like any Web site you register on). Gloucestershire County Council will endeavour to ensure that when a learner no longer requires access to the system – typically when he/she leaves the Council’s employ – that their accounts will be closed down.
How else your information will be used
Any information you enter in the Me Learning system will only be used to offer you the appropriate training courses, and to track your learning progress for your benefit and to inform your managers’ decisions. We may use your information to contact you to discuss your training requirements and progress, therefore please ensure your details are kept up to date in the “My Profile” section of the system.
What are your rights under the Data Protection Act 1998?
You can request to see the information we hold about you at any time by contacting the Council’s Information Management Service at foi@gloucestershire.gov.uk. If you believe your information is wrong you can also request to have it corrected. If you wish to complain about how we have handled your personal data, you can contact our Data Protection Officer at informationsecurity@gloucestershire.gov.uk, and they will investigate the matter.
You can withdraw your consent to your personal data being processed at any time by writing to the below address asking for your learning account to be closed, however you should be aware that you may be required to re-register in the future if your employer requires you to undertake further training:-
